Where did you grow up and what was your childhood like? Did you have any particular experiences/stories that shaped your adult life?
I grew up in a small town. My parents were both teachers who divorced when I was 5. My mother moved us away when I was 12. My parents didn’t speak and there was constant tension. I grew up learning how to keep people happy and learning how to bridge the gap between people and their emotions. I developed incredible emotional intelligence, intuition, and sales skills, all from an early age. I’ve continued to leverage those wonderful gifts my entire life as an influencer, change maker, coach, leader, and entrepreneur.
What is something you wish you would’ve realized earlier in your life?
Everything will be just fine. This life we are living represents such an infinitesimally small and insignificant portion of time in space. Nothing really matters at all. Soon we will all be dust and be forgotten. All we have is this moment we’re living, right now, and the love and joy we can create in the world with each and every moment.
What are bad recommendations you hear in your profession or area of expertise?
Hustle. I hate the word hustle. We should all be finding what brings us joy. Hustle suggests we all need to work harder, do more, and all that. We should do the things that bring us, and those around us, the most joy.
Tell me about one of the darker periods you’ve experienced in life. How you came out of it and what you learned from it?
About 5 years ago I had a real estate team I wasn’t proud of. Everyone wanted more from me at a time when I was nearly broke and had nothing more to give. I offered excellent solutions that fell on deaf ears. Upon consideration, I realized that I had built this Team and that it was my doing. I had built it using a scarcity mindset, and the Team was a reflection of that. I needed to find ALL new people. It took me two years, but by first becoming the person deserving of a better Team, I was able to do the things required to get there. Today, I’m proud to say, we have an amazing group of people functioning at the top of the industry, and we’re all growing every day, together.
What is one thing that you do that you feel has been the biggest contributor to your success so far?
Good, consistent, daily habits.
What is your morning routine?
4 am rise, dress for the gym, smile at myself in the morning, and drink a litre of water with 15ml apple cider vinegar and 15ml lemon juice
4:15 am stretch and then do jumping jacks for a total of 15 minutes
4:30 am sit in front of a SAD Light and journal gratitude, my desired future in the first person, affirmations, 3 big life goals, and 3 today goals, then send 3 text messages expressing direct gratitude to people
5:00 am meditate for 15 minutes
5:15 am cardio and drink 1L
6:15 am lift weights and drink 1L
7 am arrive home and eat a healthy breakfast with my family
What habit or behavior that you have pursued for a few years has most improved your life?
Reading every day.
What are your strategies for being productive and using your time most efficiently?
Abide by a time block, and don’t allow anyone or anything to get in the way of what’s most important to ME.
What book(s) have influenced your life the most? Why?
Hell Week by Erik Bertrand Larssen
Why: It helped me identify why I’m here, who I want to be, and how to develop the habits I need to become the person required to get there.
The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
Why: Having a predictable morning routine is absolutely essential to long-term sustainable growth and success.
The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor
Why: Being happy takes work, but the outcome is that every single aspect of your life improves when you’re in the mood of gratitude and the mindset of being happy. Things just “click”.
Do you have any quotes you live by or think of often?
“Be. Do. Have.” In order to accomplish the things I want in life, it’s not enough for me to simply “do” the required tasks, I must first “BE” the person deserving of the outcome I’m seeking. There is no faking true fulfillment and true success. You must BE the person first.
